With the continued evolution of graphene spintronics, combined with the recent advances in spin/valley-polarized excitations in transition metal dichalcogenides, magnetism in 2D materials, robust 2D topological states and novel concepts such as proximity effects when combining different layered materials in van der Waals heterostructures, there is a critical mass of researchers with complementary interests. At this workshop, participants will bring expertise from a variety of disciplines and discuss the latest advances in this blooming field.

During the workshop the following topics will be discussed:

  • Spin transport in 2D materials
  • Spin-orbit proximity in van der Waals heterostructures
  • Spin-dependent phenomena in Topological Insulators and Weyl semimetals
  • Valleytronics in 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures
  • 2D magnets

The scientific sessions of the workshop will consist of invited talks as well as poster sessions during breaks. The list of invited speakers is given below.


  • The registration fee is 300 € for all participants except invited speakers and includes coffee breaks all 4 days and lunch for 3 days, and a welcome cocktail on the evening of the first day.
  • The workshop is limited to a maximum of 100 participants.
  • Registration (including abstract submission) will close on July 13th or when the number of registered people reaches the maximum of 100 people. 


Every registered participant will have the option to present a poster. During registration, please upload your abstract in pdf format using this template. Limit your abstract to one page (including images if wanted).
