The workshop will focus on exciting discoveries in Atomic-scale Electronics, Photonics, and Quantum Information Science. Quantum materials offer dramatically new approaches for electronics and photonics, but their characteristics, and the techniques to make devices and interconnected systems are largely unknown. The Frontiers in Quantum Materials and Devices workshops address this challenge by bringing together experts in materials growth and characterization, device fabrication and testing, and theoretical modeling.

The workshop will focus on novel phenomena occurring at interfaces between metallic conductors and magnetic insulators as well as in recently-discovered quantum magnetic materials, both offering a rich playground for Quantum Spintronics. The workshop will bring together leading experts, experimentalists and theorists, working at the crossroads between magnon spintronics and quantum magnetism.

En pocos años la mayor parte de la sociedad europea ha aceptado en gran medida los postulados de la sostenibilidad y modifica sus comportamientos hacia actitudes más acordes con ellos. 

El reconocimiento del cambio climático, de la limitación de los recursos no renovables, de la demografía mundial acelerada, de la globalización de las relaciones y los problemas es también asumido como consecuencia.

En la presente década se constatan algunos cambios significativos en torno a las políticas sobre el cannabis: Uruguay y otros Estados de Estados Unidos (Colorado, Oregón, Washington, Alaska, Distrito de Columbia, California, Maine, Massachusetts y Nevada) han implementado -o lo van a llevar a cabo en los próximos meses-, políticas alternativas en materia de cannabis. La nueva ley sobre adicciones (2016) aprobada en el Parlamento Vasco, contempla regular mediante reglamento las asociaciones cannábicas.

¿Qué es el patrimonio cultural edificado? ¿Por qué nos es útil como ciudadanos? ¿Cómo lo abordamos como técnicos? Edificios y lugares construidos conforman un conjunto determinado de bienes culturales de una sociedad, cuyos aspectos específicos hacen que su estudio se deba abordar desde diversas áreas de conocimiento. Este curso propone un recorrido a través de dichas áreas, proporcionando una visión global y comprensiva del patrimonio cultural edificado.

Topology and lattice symmetries play a key role in determining matter states and their associated internal order. These so-called topological states of matters are of fundamental interest, since they entail exotic electronic behaviors. The study and prediction of materials with novel topological properties has become a vibrant field of research over the past few years. The 2017 school includes a session explaining practically how to perform a numerical quantum transport calculation of topological systems with KWANT.

The school on PhotoElectroCatalysis at the Atomic Scale (PECAS) is aimed at promoting various opportunities for interdisciplinary discussion of scientists and students of physics, material science, chemistry and electrochemistry in addition to presentation of new results, ideas and methods in the field of photo- and electrochemical properties of novel materials.

The summer school NanoQI'17 provides an introduction to the basics and recent advances in major areas of quantum information theory and solid-state-based quantum technologies. The European Conference on Surface Crystallography and Dynamics (ECSCD) is aimed at discussing the recent advances on the characterization of dynamical processes and structure of surfaces, as well as their interplay, at the atomic length scale. The first edition of the conference took place in 1985 in Erlangen (Germany), and it has become a well established meeting point for the surface science community.
