Simulation methods used to investigate a wide range of chemical and biological processes, including drug binding, protein folding, protein–protein interactions, allosteric regulation, gas adsorption and diffusion in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), piezoelectric responses, and catalytic events. Improving the accuracy and efficiency of these simulations remains an active area of research, particularly with the growing integration of machine learning potentials (MLPs) and artificial intelligence (AI) to expand the scope and reliability of free energy methods.

The 2DSPM has been consolidated in a biennial basis conference, celebrating in 2026 its fourth edition.

In 2D materials, essentially everything takes place on the surface and, consequently, SPM techniques have produced some of the most exciting works in these unique materials. We believe a focused 2DSPM conference will represent a very stimulating environment facilitating the easy flow of knowledge and ideas among participants.

La cultura oceánica, o alfabetización marina, consiste en entender la influencia que el océano ejerce sobre nuestras vidas y cómo nuestras acciones afectan a su salud. No se trata solo de conocimientos científicos: implica valores, actitudes, comportamientos y la capacidad de tomar decisiones informadas que favorezcan la sostenibilidad. En un contexto de crisis climática, pérdida de biodiversidad, crecimiento demográfico, entre otros, promover esta cultura es más necesario que nunca. Sin embargo, aún persisten numerosos mitos que dificultan comprender la importancia real del océano.

This workshop brings together researchers from industry and academia to explore the frontiers of quantum computing, with a focus on recent advances in quantum control and the complexity of quantum dynamics in physical systems. The event aims to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration among experts working on Krylov subspace methods in quantum dynamics—including operator growth and Krylov complexity—as well as quantum control strategies based on shortcuts to adiabaticity, such as counter-diabatic driving and adiabatic gauge potentials.

En la Comunidad Autónoma del País Vasco (CAPV), por su pequeña superficie y alta densidad de población, uno de los procesos de degradación del suelo más relevante es el sellado. Sin embargo, hasta la publicación de la Ley 17/2008, de 23 de diciembre, de Política Agraria y Alimentaria, el papel que el suelo ha jugado en la planificación territorial y urbanística de la CAPV, ha sido el de satisfacer las demandas urbanas.

Science has been significantly shaped by digitalization over the past decades, affecting multiple levels of research and practice – knowledge production, methodology, cultures of collaboration, science-society interactions and, finally, the very idea of science as such. There are different transformations in science happening, e.g. via data science tools, research software, modelling tools, AI tools, data ecosystems or other digitalized research tools and infrastructures.

San Sebastian will host the course “Machine Learning for Polymer Science”, bringing together researchers working at the intersection of machine learning, polymer science and materials research.

The school aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how data-driven approaches and artificial intelligence are transforming polymer science, offering a unique opportunity to bridge fundamental concepts with real-world applications in both academic and industrial contexts.
