"We have to integrate new technologies and social changes into the Basque Curriculum and learn from the mistakes made".

Nora Salbotx and Hur Gorostiaga participated in the course "La educación como instrumento de cohesión social del futuro: re-representación del currículo vasco" of the Cross-border Summer Courses.

"There were laws that began to regularise the issue of travel, because the first trips at the beginning of the 19th century were horrible, without any sanitation". 

Esterle Maryse talks about travel in the 19th century and migration to America. She took part in the course "La diáspora vasca: de la salida transfronteriza a la integración en América (País Vasco, Estados Unidos, América Latina, siglos XIX-XXI)", which was held as part of the Cross-Border Courses.

"The big challenge would be to engage society in the coming years. I see many possibilities".

Irene López Goñi and Iban Thicoipe participated in the Cross-border Summer Course "La educación como instrumento de cohesión social del futuro: re-representación del currículo vasco".

"I think that citizens on both sides of the border understand that this is not without logic. The only way is to go to the Luxembourg court and have it rule, because fortunately this is not a matter for one state, but for Europe".

Juanjo Álvarez talks to us about the course "La integración europea en la frontera franco-española: una perspectiva transfronteriza", which was held as part of the Cross-Border Summer Courses.

"In recent years, a new generation of filmmakers has come to the fore, production companies have been set up and professionals are beginning to meet to reflect on how to improve filmmaking".

"Climate change knows no borders. However, each territory determines different measures to respond to climate change. The challenge for the Euroregion may be to have a common vision at Euroregional level or to build a common response".

Klaus von Klitzing (Schroda, 1943) is a German physicist who was awarded the 1985 Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery of the quantum Hall effect. Klitzing's research focuses on the properties of low-dimensional electronic systems, typically in low temperatures and in high magnetic fields. In July, he took part in the workshop organized by DIPC (Donostia International Physics Center) “Quantum Phenomena in 2D Matter (QP2DM)” within the framework of the UPV/EHU Summer Courses.

This year, a special course was organised in Martutene prison, which consisted of a meeting with inmates in the centre, with the aim of breaking down stigmatisation and taking steps towards the inclusion of these people. 

Once the course has finished, Eugenio Artetxe, Director of Justice of the Basque Government, states in this interview that prisoners maintain all their rights except those restricted by the sentence, which is basically freedom of movement. Once they have served their sentence, they return to society.

"The cross-border landscape helps us to broaden the dimension and to understand that we are talking about a continuous element, in which there are no barriers".
