Covid-19 gave us a slap in the face of reality by showing us the devastating effects of messing with the environment. A summer of furious heat is giving it to us again, and for similar reasons. Either we learn or we get sick.

Description

A bad environment not only contravenes the recently declared new universal human right, the right to a healthy and clean environment. A bad environment affects our health and causes millions of premature deaths that cannot be counteracted by medical advances. Either we change our relationship with nature or we will get sicker and sicker.

Fernando Javier Valladares Ros

Profesor de investigación del CSIC y profesor asociado de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos

Fernando Valladares holds a PhD in biology, is a researcher at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas and an associate professor at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid. He is a highly cited scientist, with numerous research projects on the role of biodiversity and the impacts of climate change and human activity on ecosystems. In 2021 he received the Jaume I Award in the category of Environmental Protection and the BBVA Foundation Environmental Communication Award. His concern for the environmental crisis has led him to actively report on the environmental crisis in various media, on social networks (Twitter: @FernandoVallada, Linkedin: fernando-valladares-CSIC) and on his channel La Salud de la Humanidad on Instagram and Youtube.
