Linguistic criteria of the courses

UIK's commitments regarding the specific development of language criteria are set out in the UIK Basque Language Strategic Plan.

Regarding detailed written information about courses, all information will soon be provided in both Basque and Spanish. However, the current language criteria for courses organised by UIK for the public are as follows:

 

If the course is in Basque:

  •  The course will be taught in Basque.
  • The programme will expressly state whether or not translation will be provided.
  • The course title and the detailed programme will be published in Basque.
  • The rest of the course information (description, objectives, etc.) will be published in Basque and Spanish.

 

If the course is in Spanish:

  • The course will be taught in Spanish.
  • The programme will expressly state whether or not translation will be provided.
  • The course title and the detailed programme will be published in Spanish.
  • The rest of the course information (description, objectives, etc.) will be published in Basque and Spanish.

 

If the course is in English:

  • The course will be taught in English.
  • The programme will expressly state whether or not translation will be provided.
  • The course title and the detailed programme will be published in English.
  • The rest of the course information (description, objectives, etc.) will be published in three languages: Basque, Spanish and English.

 

If the course is in French:

  • French will be the language of instruction of the course.
  • The programme will expressly state whether or not translation will be provided.
  • The course title and the detailed programme will be published in French.
  • The rest of the course information (description, objectives, etc.) will be published in three languages: Basque, Spanish and French.

 

If the course is bilingual:

  • Different languages will be used within the same course.
    In this case:
  • The course title, description and objectives will be published in both languages.
  • The title of each lecture will be written in the language in which the presentation is delivered.
  • The programme will expressly state whether or not translation will be provided.
