Description

This activity is part of the course program: "Universities Looking to the Sea: Navigating Ocean Sustainability on the Saltillo School Ship."

The ERAIN Workshop at ITSASMUSEUM BILBAO is entering the final phase of the restoration of the wooden fishing boat "Nuevo Anchústegui." The scope of the project, the boat's conservation status, its location in an open dry dock, and other factors have required the collaboration of many individuals and institutions, as well as a different working format.

The speakers' presentations will address how the challenges presented by the project have been overcome, always from a scientific perspective to ensure that the boat does not lose its heritage value.

Similarly, the restoration process that was carried out with the Saltillo 35 years ago will be shared.

COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITY

Those enrolled in the course will have the opportunity to participate directly in a ship carpentry activity using traditional tools and techniques. Anyone interested in attending must indicate this during the registration process.

Speakers

Enara Artetxe Sánchez

UPV/EHU

Doctora en Bellas Artes por la UPV/EHU. En la actualidad es profesora adscrita al Departamento de Pintura de la UPV/EHU e imparte docencia en el Grado en Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales y en el Máster Universitario en Conservación y Exhibición de Arte Contemporáneo. Sus líneas de investigación se centran en la conservación de obra gráfica, fotografía y pintura.

Carmen Lopez Camarzana

Licenciada en Bellas Artes (especialidad: Restauración y Conservación). Universidad del País Vasco. EHU-UPV. Docente para la formación profesional para el empleo. Responsable en Erain de la restauración y conservación.

Jon Ispizua San Nicolás

Itsasmuseum Bilbao

Después de trabajar en el Astillero Kortazar de Bermeo en 2003 se incorpora al taller de restauración embarcaciones de Itsasmuseum. Actualmente, es responsable del proyecto Erain y la restauración integral del “Nuevo Anchústegui”.

Jon Ruigomez Matxin

Director de Itsasmuseum Bilbao, desde 2010. Licenciado en Derecho Económico por la Universidad de Deusto, AMP por IE, Moc por Orkestra, Instituto Vasco de Competitividad, miembro del Consejo Asesor del Foro Marítimo Vasco.

Gorka Moreno Márquez

Profesor Titurlar en el Departamento de Sociología y Trabajo Social de la Universidad del País Vasco y miembro de Ikuspegi-Observatorio Vasco de Inmigración y del Grupo de Investigación Parte Hartuz. Ex director de Ikuspegi (2011-2019). Tiene una amplia experiencia docente en grado y posgrado, tanto en la UPV/EHU, como en otras universidades españolas y latinoamericanas. Sus principales líneas de investigación son las migraciones internacionales, las políticas sociales o la exclusión social. En este sentido ha realizado diferentes investigaciones en el campo de las actitudes hacia la inmigración, los procesos de integración del colectivo inmigrante o el sinhogarismo. Ha publicado varios libros y artículos en revistas académicas sobre estos temas y participa asiduamente en congresos jornadas y seminarios. Imparte también charlas y seminarios sobre la inmigración a entidades sociales, asociaciones y ciudadanía en general.

He is director of Euskampus Fundazioa, founded in 2011 by the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU), Tecnalia Corporation and the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC). He worked as assistant professor in the Faculty of Sciences of the UPV/EHU, international projects manager in Gamesa Energy, researcher and project manager at LABEIN- Tecnalia, project and outreach manager in the Nanoscience Cooperative Research Center- nanoGUNE, manager of the nanoBasque Strategy in the Basque Business Development Agency- SPRI, and director of DeustoTech. He holds a PhD in Physics from UPV/EHU, and a master degree in journalism and science communication from the Spanish Open University. He is the author of more than 70 international scientific publications indexed in the Web of knowledge,and author of 3 international patents. He has been awarded as one of the word-leading “Boundary Spanners” for University Business Cooperation by the University Industry Innovation Network.
