It is the mission of the Etxepare Basque Institute to spread the Basque language and culture throughout the world. Currently the Institute acts through 36 cooperation agreements signed with international universities, where 30 specialized lecturers selected by the Etxepare Basque Institute teach Basque language and culture in programs of Bachelor’s Degrees. Furthermore, in order to consolidate Basque studies in international Master’s Degrees, 9 Chairs have been set up at 5 universities in the USA, at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, at the University of Liverpool, at the Université Bordeaux-Montaigne and in the research and academic centre CONICET in Argentina.

This course aims to reinforce the training of current and future specialized lecturers. As in previous editions, for this “Excellence in Basque Studies XI” we have invited relevant experts on several study-fields of Basque language and culture.

This edition presents Limits, Borders and Movement as key concepts in the current worldwide culture. Thus, the course will focus, not only on the influence of reflections and research related to the aforementioned concepts on the process of teaching and learning of Basque language and culture, but also on their contribution to that very process. Therefore, Borders, Limits and Movement concepts will be analyzed in Basque language, films, literature and culture in general.
