Non-linear electron transport phenomena in solids, which occur when inversion symmetry is absent, have been widely studied in quantum materials both as fundamental properties associated to wavefunction Berry phases and for device applications in current rectification and frequency doubling. While the breaking of inversion symmetry is usually due to the crystal structure itself, in recent years it has been appreciated that certain types of magnetic order also break inversion symmetry and give rise to new non-linear effects which are magnetically switchable.

Scientific discussions will be enriched by plenary lectures given by outstanding scientists, sharing fresh perspectives on the frontiers of colloid and interface science.

Photonics is gaining traction in the artificial intelligence area. Photons are viewed more and more as optimum information processing and transporting carriers for their versatility, speed and energy economy that make them apt for hardware implementations. In turn, AI in general and machine learning in particular have revealed as phenomenal tools capable to solve complex problems that can boost the development of photonics in aspects such as new materials, inverse design, and even law discovery.
