Lecture by Salvador Rueda, Urban ecologist. Chair and Director of the Foundation for Urban and Territorial Ecology (FEUT).

"Addressing future uncertainties due to the climate emergency"

Description

Cities of the Mediterranean basin in general and those of the Iberian Peninsula in particular are today likely to suffer the worst effects of climate change due to high temperatures and exceptional torrential rain. There is a pressing need to tackle the causes of the climate emergency and, in turn, to adapt the urban fabrics to the uncertainties surrounding the extreme phenomena of climate change.

The presentation will consider the public space and mobility model that can be rolled out in any city and which address climate change mitigation and adaptation alike. Examples of rewilding planned by the Foundation for Urban and Territorial Ecology (FEUT) in several Spanish cities will be among the adaptation measures considered.
