Course proposals for the 46th Summer Courses to be submitted from 1 to 30 November

The EHU Summer Courses Foundation (UIK) invites all interested individuals and entities to take part in the planning and organisation of the 2027 Summer Courses.

On 1 November, the EHU Summer Courses Foundation will open the period to submit course proposals for the 2027 programme. Submissions can be presented from 1 to 30 November 2025 through the UIK online platform.

UIK aims to disseminate knowledge on a wide range of social impact topics and to continue to be a meeting point for reflection, dialogue and collaboration among academia, research, institutions, professionals and the general public.

Social impact of research, engagement, youth and the Basque language, the main challenges for 2027

UIK has identified four major challenges for the 46th edition and the aim is for the range of Summer Courses to meet society’s new needs.

On the one hand, it seeks to highlight the social impact of research, by bringing academic and scientific knowledge to citizens, and by fostering reflection to respond today’s social challenges.

On the other hand, the focus will continue to be on experiential and participatory methodologies; the aim is for the courses not only to be spaces to pass on knowledge, but also to debate, share experiences and for collaborative learning.

Furthermore, efforts will be made to bolster the participation of young people, by means of including innovative themes and formats that are attractive and of interest to them.

Finally, UIK uses different languages to transfer knowledge. Accordingly, it will continue to be committed to guaranteeing the presence of the Basque language. Grants are available to promote courses in Basque, along with translation resources to facilitate its use.

Different formats and funding options

The 2027 Summer Courses may be held in-person, live steamed online or in a mixed format, combining both methods.

As regards funding, there are two options in place: courses fully funded by the UIK Foundation and courses in partnership, organised with the financial support of outside entities.

The conditions and details of each funding method are set out in the terms and conditions of the call.

How should the course proposals be submitted?

Submissions must be presented from 1 to 30 November 2026 through the UIK online platform.

Each activity will have a single person in charge, except for duly justified exceptions. Each director may only submit one single proposal.

All the fields marked as mandatory on the platform
must be completed in order for
the course proposals to be assessed.

The Summer Courses Programme Committee will analyse the received submissions. The following criteria will be taken into account: the interest and current relevance of the topic, the quality of the programme and of the speakers, the participation of scientific and academic institutions, the international perspective, linguistic diversity and the use of the Basque Language, along with participatory methodologies.

The decision regarding the selected submissions is planned to be announced between 25 January and 10 February 2027.

2027 Summer Courses, from June to September

The 46th edition will be run between 1 June and 30 September 2027. In the case of the courses to be held in the Miramar Palace in San Sebastián, they are scheduled to take place between 15 June and 15 September.

Next year’s courses will be an opportunity to gather together people and entities from different knowledge areas to share expertise, reflect on society’s challenges and generate new spaces for dialogue.

UIK invites all the individuals and entities that wish to share knowledge with society to contribute to the preparing of the Summer Courses 2027 programme.
