Quantum Phenomena in 2D Matter (QP2DM)

Klaus von Klitzing (Schroda, 1943) is a German physicist who was awarded the 1985 Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery of the quantum Hall effect. Klitzing's research focuses on the properties of low-dimensional electronic systems, typically in low temperatures and in high magnetic fields. In July, he took part in the workshop organized by DIPC (Donostia International Physics Center) “Quantum Phenomena in 2D Matter (QP2DM)” within the framework of the UPV/EHU Summer Courses.

Aprendizajes mutuos desde el centro penitenciario de Donostia/San Sebastián (Martutene)

This year, a special course was organised in Martutene prison, which consisted of a meeting with inmates in the centre, with the aim of breaking down stigmatisation and taking steps towards the inclusion of these people. 

Once the course has finished, Eugenio Artetxe, Director of Justice of the Basque Government, states in this interview that prisoners maintain all their rights except those restricted by the sentence, which is basically freedom of movement. Once they have served their sentence, they return to society.
