Submissions can be presented from 1 to 30 November 2025 through the UIK online platform.
After the success of the 44th edition, the EHU Summer Courses Foundation (UIK) has started to work on the 45th courses, which will be held between 15 June and 15 September 2026. Yet again this year, UIK is calling for submissions from stakeholders from different areas of society – academic, research, institutional and professional; the proposed activities should contribute to reflection, training and discussion around the great challenges of our time.
The UIK seeks to bring the university to the public and provide a space for lifelong learning, participation and knowledge transfer. Over more than four decades, the Summer Courses have become a social and academic benchmark open to working with private and public entities.
Developments and challenges in 2026
The latest edition will strive to bolster the Foundation’s commitment to the values of sustainability, innovation and participation, by giving impetus to in-person, online and combined formats. UIK will continue to foster the use of active methodologies that encourage student engagement, and will have a specific handbook on designing participatory courses.
The goal also remains to bring the Summer Courses to young people, by means of innovative themes, new formats and grants to encourage their participation. Linguistic diversity will also be fostered in the range of courses, by offering specific grants to encourage the use of the Basque language. Furthermore, the emphasis will be on research that has an impact on society.
Assessing and selecting submissions
The UIK Programme Committee will assess the submissions, when they will consider aspects such as the interest and current relevance of the theme, the quality and coherence of the programme and the papers, the involvement of the EHU, the international profile, the use of participatory methodologies and the presence of the Basque language.
Detailed information on the terms & conditions, schedule, funding and grants can be found in the Regulations for organising the 2026 Summer Courses, available on the UIK website.
