Effective science facilitation to engage diverse youth in STEM

Description

  • Target Audience: postgraduate, undergraduate students, researchers, and academics scientists with an interest in public engagement in science; science educators with interest in informal science engagement,
  • Aim: Equip participants with practical skills and evidence-based strategies to effectively engage children and youth in STEM. Creating an inclusive experience for learners of different background will be emphasized to facilitate STEM activities. The course will contain at least 50% of interactive exercises.
  • Gap analysis: lack formal and practical training to engage efficiently and inclusively in STEM, in particular for researcher/science students who do educational outreach or science engagement. Some partitioners might be interested by this course content too.  
  • Duration: 2 half days (4h each w/o breaks)
  • Total contact time: 8h (4h per day excluding break)
  • Format: 50% + interactive exercises

Objectives

To give a perspective in the developing of joint European teaching provision in inclusive STEM engagement.

To discuss on a train-the-trainer model that enables sustainable local and transnational delivery.

To strengthen the staff expertise in inclusive pedagogy, informal learning, and engagement evaluation.

To show experiences in joint modules and accredited teaching across partner institutions.

Es ecofeminista y cree en el empoderamiento de la ciudadanía para crear una sociedad más feminista, ecológica, anticapitalista, antirracista, inclusiva y justa. Para ello, piensa que tanto la comunicación y la divulgación ambiental como la participación social son herramientas cruciales en las que hay que trabajar con consciencia y devoción.
